Ceramic foam
New material developed by Bridgestone having a high porosity which breaks stereotypes
Structural feature Feature of material |
It has a high porosity (80 to 90%) and three-dimensional skeletal structure with a series of air holes. Thus, a high filtering performance can be obtained while maintaining a low pressure loss. It has a small apparent specific gravity (0.35 to 0.60) and is lightweight. As it has a large surface area, it can obtain a high efficiency of contact reaction. |

Ceramic madreporite with high-porosity spherical cell structure
Countless numbers of spherical cells from submicron to millimeter sizes are pierced continuously.
Madreporites are needed for various fields including purification of wastewater and tap water, precision filtration of industrial water and air, sterilization in the medical and cosmetic fields, precision filtration of solutions, food, and drinks, and separation of gas.
Materials using metallic or organic polymer macromolecules are well-known as this kind of madreporite. However, such materials are imperfect because they have a lower corrosion resistance and heat resistance.
Recently, Narita Seitosho Co., Ltd. has developed a ceramic madreporite with a high-porosity spherical cell structure composed of countless numbers of continuous spherical cells that exhibits the excellent thermal and chemical stability of ceramics. This ceramic madreporite with a high-porosity cell structure has uniform foam-like air holes which break the stereotyped view of conventional madreporite materials.
